I'm a student.

I went to meet with an advisor today on campus. When I walked into the department and told the receptionist which professor I was there to see, she promptly picked up the phone and said "Dr. Langman, there's a student here to see you." I almost said "Oh, I'm not a student." Then I realized that I was, in fact, a student. Wow. All of a sudden everything feels so... official.

I learned about my student health insurance, where to get my new ID, how to obtain a parking pass, funding seminars, the graduate student association, my cubicle (I get my own cubicle :) ), the graduate student lab for our department, campus amenities and for which courses I need to register. Despite getting caught in a downpour, the meeting went well.

I'm beyond excited. This evening I registered for my three classes and am ready to purchase my books and begin perusing them. Perhaps my three years away from academia have paid off; I feel more motivated than ever before. August 25 can't come soon enough! Although, I may long for my days of freedom once I'm deep in the proverbial piles of papers and research.

Speaking of freedom, Braveheart is on... "Freeeeedddoommm!" Such a sad, wonderful movie.
