Picnics and Running

I love NYC in the spring. LOVE IT. All the tulips bloom along Park Avenue, the trees become green again, people smile... and the weather is finally warm. I know it's supposed to rain next week and be cold again (as in high 40's cold), but today was so nice. The girls and I had a picnic in Central Park, complete with two bottles of wine, cheese, hummus, pitas, wraps, etc. It was the perfect way to spend a warm Saturday afternoon. I only wish every Saturday could be as nice.

I even managed to run a mile afterward. And without stopping! I know that sounds very trivial and probably easy to about 90% of you, but I'm a terrible runner. I can work out on elliptical machines, stair steppers and bikes for much longer, but have always had trouble running long distances (I know a mile isn't a long distance). I'm more of a sprinter, so this was exciting to me. Next week I'm going for a mile and a half. And eventually I'd like to run a 10k, then a half marathon. We'll see.

It's late here, and Church, Thai food, Red Mango, Italy planning and laundry await me tomorrow. May next week be as lovely as today!
